3.1.13. Head of cylinders

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Execute a decompression of fuel system (see subsection 6.10).
2. Remove the battery, having taken precautionary measures.
3. Remove the air filter.
4. Disconnect from the distributor and the coil of ignition high-voltage wires.
5. Disconnect a wire from the liquid temperature sensor.
6. Disconnect fuel hoses from the distributor of fuel (carburetor).
7. Merge cooling liquid.
8. Designate and disconnect hoses from a throttle branch pipe, the soaking-up collector, the carburetor and a head of cylinders.
9. Disconnect a gate drive cable on a throttle branch pipe (carburetor).
10. Remove a final collector from a head of cylinders. On a part of cars there is no need to disconnect an exhaust pipe. It must be kept in mind that on cars the helmsman of a column interferes an intermediate shaft with the right wheel with full removal of a collector from hairpins of a head of cylinders.
11. Disconnect hoses of the vacuum regulator of ignition and the cooling system from the soaking-up collector.
12. On early models disconnect wires from the generator and a starter.
13. Remove the soaking-up collector.
14. Take off a belt of the fan and the fan.
15. Uncover a head of cylinders and laying, and also semicircular caps (if are provided).
16. Install the piston of the 1st cylinder in compression step VMT.
17. Remove a chain (a gear belt). It is possible to be limited to removal of an asterisk of a cam-shaft together with a belt (chain) which it is necessary to take aside and it is reliable to fix, without weakening a belt (chain). In this case it is necessary to expose the ignition moment again subsequently.
18. In the sequence return specified release bolts of a head of cylinders, doing 1/4 turns for reception. At this stage the mechanism of gas distribution is forbidden to be disassembled (on M10 and M20 engines).
19. Remove a head, if necessary displace it the mount inserted into a collector opening.
20. On the M40 engine get from a flute in the case of the oil pump a sealing ring.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clear the demountable planes of a head and the block of cylinders. At noticeable damages to a plane proshlifuyta (small damages are removed a file).
2. Banish carving openings a tap and blow compressed air.
3. Replace bolts of a head of cylinders. It is allowed to establish the removed bolts at absence of damage of carvings after the pro-race by a die.
4. Establish the removed details on a head, on the M40 engine replace a ring.
5. Lay new laying on the block of cylinders so that an inscription (UP or OBEN) were turned up, orient laying on pins.
6. Install a head on the block of cylinders, having oriented on pins. On the M40 engine for the correct installation of a head it is recommended to screw old bolts with the cut heads and the cut-through groove under the screw-driver.
7. Wrap bolts.
8. Tighten bolts in the specified sequence (see rice. An order of tightening of bolts of a head of cylinders on the M10 engine, rice. An order of tightening of bolts of a head of cylinders on the M20 engine (6-cylinder), rice. An order of tightening of bolts of a head of cylinders on the M40 engine (4-cylinder). The order of an inhaling is specified in the section Specifications (see subsection 3.1.2).
9. Further assembly is carried out upside-down. On M10 and M20 engines adjust valves, check gaps after warming up of the engine.
10. Tighten bolts of a head of cylinders (M40).
