3.1.3. Types of the repair work performed without dismantle of the engine

GENERAL INFORMATION

Without dismantle it is possible to replace laying of the soaking-up and final collectors, laying of the oil pallet, a head of the block of cylinders, epiploons of a bent shaft.

It is possible to remove such units as the soaking-up and final collectors, the oil pallet, the oil pump, the pump of cooling liquid, a starter, the generator, the distributor of ignition, gas distribution mechanism detail, units of fuel system and a head of the block of cylinders.

In extreme cases when there is no necessary equipment, without removal of the engine it is possible to replace piston rings, pistons, rods and connecting rods. However, it is not recommended to perform these works without dismantle and full dismantling of the engine extremely as cleaning of the accompanying details, and also holding preparatory activities on assembly are required.

It should be noted that on engines except M40 it is expedient to gas distribution mechanism detail to remove after dismantle of a head of cylinders. The cam-shaft of the M40 engine is removed without dismantle of a head after removal of covers of basic necks.
