3.2.27. Installation of the crankshaft and check of gaps in radical bearings

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Arrange the block so that the lower part was turned up. Turn out bolts of covers, get covers and spread out them as their installation. Get from covers and the block of cylinders old inserts and absolutely wipe covers and beds in the block of cylinders.
2. Clear an external surface of new radical inserts with oil flutes and carefully enclose them in beds of the block of cylinders. Enclose the corresponding reciprocal inserts in covers, having combined ledges with selections. Not to grease inserts. Track that lubricant openings in the block of cylinders and in inserts coincided.

3. The insert with flange end faces (fillets) keeps within N3 cover on the M10 engine, in N6 cover on the M20 engine and in N4 cover on the M40 engine.
4. Install the crankshaft and measure gaps in radical inserts. For this purpose put on a piece of a calibration wire on each radical neck of the crankshaft parallel to its axis. Clear surfaces of inserts in covers, establish covers and tighten bolts, being guided by the order specified in Specifications (see subsection 3.2.2), since the central covers and being displaced to the periphery.

5. Turn off bolts and carefully lift covers, compare thickness of each of crushed a provolok with a scale on packing and determine gap size. Rotation of the crankshaft at measurements is not allowed.
6. If the gap does not meet standard, then the wrong selection of dimensional group of inserts can be the cause. Make sure that at measurements between bearings and surfaces of covers there were no pollution or oil. If width of the crushed wire on the ends strongly differs, then the radical neck of the crankshaft has conicity.
7. Remove the remains of a wire from necks and remove the crankshaft.
8. Grease with molybdenic lubricant radical inserts and the face surface of the persistent radical bearing.
9. Be convinced of purity of necks of the crankshaft, then install it in the block of cylinders. Clear surfaces of inserts in covers and apply a thin film of lubricant on each of them.
10. Establish covers on the former places so that shooters were turned towards a forward part of the engine.
11. Wrap bolts of covers of radical bearings.
12. Tighten bolts of all covers (except a cover of the persistent radical bearing on M10 and M20 engines, on the M40 engine tighten all bolts), being guided by the order specified in Specifications (see subsection 3.2.2). Begin an inhaling with the central covers, being displaced to the periphery.
13. On M10 and M20 engines tighten bolts of a cover of the persistent radical bearing with the set moment.
14. On cars from the manual transmission replace the directing crankshaft bearing.
15. Check freedom of rotation of the crankshaft
16. Check an axial side play of the crankshaft (see subsection 3.2.22). The side play has to meet standard if new bearings are installed and the persistent surfaces of the crankshaft are not worn-out.
17. Establish a new back epiploon.
