3.3.6.3. Check and installation of the moment of ignition (only for the TCI system)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Check is carried out on the heated-up engine. Make sure that turns of idling meet standard.

Tags for installation of ignition are put on a flywheel (are visible through an aperture in a bell-shaped case of the check point) and / or on a pulley-uspokoitele on a crankshaft sock.


Prevention

In the Motronic system only check of ignition is allowed. However due to the lack of exact data for this system in case of abnormal work of ignition it is necessary to address to car service.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a hose of the vacuum regulator.
2. Connect a tachometer and a stroboscope, being guided by the instruction of the manufacturer of devices. It is recommended to apply a stroboscope with the induction sensor. As a rule, conclusions of food of a stroboscope join battery poles, and a sensor conclusion – a wire of a candle of the 1st cylinder.

Prevention

On a part of cars for check and installation of the moment of ignition the VMT sensor (the ignition moment tag in these cars as a rule is absent), for which the special tester which joins in the diagnostic socket is intended is provided. The tester is used in car service of the manufacturer. In the absence of a tester it is possible to use a stroboscope of compensation or usual types. In the first case the corner of an advancing of ignition is determined by an illumination impulse delay scale at combination of the lit tags (the scale of delays at the beginning of measurement is exposed on zero). When using a usual stroboscope apply an ignition moment tag on a crankshaft pulley. Determine distance to this tag from a tag of VMT by a formula:
Distance = 2P * (the set corner of an advancing VMT is relative) * r/360,
where P =3,142, r – pulley radius.


3. On the stopped engine slightly weaken a bolt of fastening of the distributor that it could be moved under small effort.
4. Start the engine, establish the necessary turns and direct lamp flash light to tags.
5. If tags do not coincide, then slowly turn the distributor before coincidence of tags on a flywheel and a case (at the left – OT ignition tag on a flywheel, on the right – OZ ignition tag on a flywheel). Tighten a bolt of fastening of the distributor and again check installation of the moment of ignition. Upon termination of remove devices and attach a hose of the vacuum regulator.
