2.6. Check of level of liquids

GENERAL INFORMATION

Because in the course of driving there is gradual exhaustion of liquid and / or pollution, even during the normal operation of the engine, the amount of liquid has to be replenished periodically. Before check of level install the car on the flat platform.

Oil level in the engine

Level of oil is checked by the probe which is inserted into a branch pipe of the oil pallet of the engine.

Check oil level on the cold idle engine, or about 15 minutes later from the moment of its stop.
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Get the control probe from a tube and wipe, insert the pure probe back into a tube and again get. Check level on an oil film which has to is between two risks (near the top mark).

2. If the level of oil is above the top mark, then it will lead to oiling of candles, an oil leak through laying, or to failure of epiploons.
3. To add oil turn out a mouth stopper on a cover of a head of cylinders. After a dolivaniye wrap a cover by hand.


If oil level constantly goes down, then are the reason an oil leak through the damaged epiploon, the weakened connections, or through piston rings or the directing plugs of valves. If oil gets a dairy shade, or in oil water drops are observed, then tightness of laying of a head of cylinders is broken. It indicates the need of immediate check of the engine. It is necessary to check a condition of oil also regularly. Every time during check of level of oil before wiping the probe, clamp the probe two fingers and carry out on it up. If it is visible that between fingers and the probe the remains of dirt or small metal particles get stuck, then oil needs to be replaced.

Cooling liquid

All cars considered in this manual have the closed tight cooling system of elevated pressure. The broad tank of white color installed behind a radiator is connected by a hose to the basis of a stopper of a jellied mouth of a radiator. In process of heating of cooling liquid in operating time of the engine there is a replacement of liquid of a jellied mouth in a broad tank. In process of cooling of the engine cooling liquid flows down back in the cooling system. Liquid is added in a tank after removal of a stopper.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On a part of cars the broad tank is mounted on a radiator. Level of liquid (shooter) has to be on the cold engine near the mark Low (Nizhny Novgorod), on warmed up – the marks Full are slightly lower (Full).
2. On a part of cars the broad tank is mounted sideways in a motor compartment.
3. Add liquid.

Bystry falling of level of liquid indicates violation of tightness of system. Check a radiator, hoses, a stopper of a jellied mouth, an inhaling of drain traffic jams, and the water pump. If strong indications of a leak are not revealed, then check traffic jams of a radiator and a tank, having handed over them in BMW car service.

If it is necessary to turn out a stopper of a jellied mouth of a radiator, then wait for full cooling of system, then wrap up a stopper a thick layer of rags and turn it to the first emphasis. At emergence of steam wait so far liquid will cool down completely, then turn out a stopper.

At an otvorachivaniye of a stopper wait for cooling of the engine (at a stopper otvorachivaniye to the first emphasis of couples should not leave, to wind a stopper with rags).

Constantly behind a condition of liquid. It has to be rather transparent. If liquid gained brown color, or color of a rust, then it should be replaced, previously having washed out the cooling system. Anticorrosive properties are exhausted over time though liquid and can keep satisfactory appearance.

Liquid of a hydraulic actuator of brakes and coupling

The main cylinder of brakes is mounted in the left part of a motor compartment. The main cylinder of coupling on cars from the manual transmission is nearby, in its right part.
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Liquid level a tank of a hydraulic actuator of coupling has to be about the control cast line or coincide with it. Otherwise turn off a stopper and add.
2. Liquid level in a transparent tank of the main brake cylinder has to be between the marks Min and Max. Otherwise wipe and turn off a stopper and add liquid.

3. After removal of a stopper of a tank, check existence of pollution in a tank. In the presence of a deposit liquid should be merged and replaced.

After restoration of level of liquid in tanks be convinced of reliability of fastening of traffic jams to avoid leak of liquid and (or) pressure drop in system.

Level of brake fluid will go down in process of natural wear of brake shoes. Level is restored when replacing blocks, in use it is not necessary to add liquid. Gradual lowering of the level of the lower mark provides on wear of blocks below.

Need of a frequent dolivka of liquid in a tank of the main cylinder of brakes is a leak sign in the brake system which cause should be removed immediately. Check all connections and a condition of tubes and hoses of a brake contour, and also wheel cylinders and the vacuum amplifier.

If when checking level of liquid in a tank of the main brake cylinder absence is revealed (or almost total absence) liquids, then it is necessary to remove the cause and to fill system with liquid, having removed from it air.

Windshield washer liquid

The washer reservoir of a windshield is in the right part of a motor compartment.

In a temperate climate the tank of windscreen washer can be filled in with clear water on two thirds. If the car is operated in a frigid climate, then in a tank of windscreen washer it is necessary to fill in solution of special liquid with the lowered freezing point. It is forbidden to fill in in a tank liquid from the cooling system.
