On early models of the considered cars Solex 2B4 carburetors (cars of early release) and Solex 2BE (later release) are installed. Both carburetors two-chamber with the falling stream. The drive of a butterfly valve of primary camera is provided mechanically, gates of the secondary camera – under the influence of depression in zadrosselny space.
The considered carburetors have two float-operated cameras equipped with a float and the needle valve which reduces action of inertial forces during the braking or turn of the car.
The air gate of primary camera of the Solex 2B4 carburetor has the thermoelectric drive (a bimetallic plate with electroheating) which works at warming up of the engine. The thermoelectric drive works together with 2 valves – dressers of mix who work depending on temperature of cooling liquid and the sucked-in air.
On the Solex 2BE carburetor the electronic control unit which automatically adjusts the carburetor both in the mode of warming up of the engine, and in the course of work after warming up is provided. The block is mounted in the right part of a forward partition of salon.
Removal
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. Remove the air filter. |
2. Disconnect a cable of the drive of a butterfly valve from the carburetor. |
3. On cars from the automatic transmission disconnect kick cable - down - the mode. |
4. Designate and disconnect sockets of conducting of the carburetor. |
5. Disconnect the conductor of connection with weight on an arm of the device of positioning of a butterfly valve. |
6. Designate and disconnect vacuum hoses from the carburetor, (the hose with a white strip is connected to a tee). |
7. On the carburetor 2B4 disconnect from a thermal valve and muffle hoses of cooling liquid. |
8. Disconnect a fuel hose. |
9. Turn off 4 bolts and remove the carburetor. |
10. If necessary turn off nuts and remove a heat insulator (on a photo – a heat-insulating pro-rate of the carburetor). |
Installation Installation is carried out upside-down. Before installation check purity of the condensed surfaces of the carburetor. Adjust cables. Cleaning

The description for the Solex 2B4 carburetor is given below. The procedure of dismantling for the Solex 2BE carburetor differs in nothing.

PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. Prepare a set of laying and sealants. |
2. Wash out the carburetor outside. |
3. Hook and remove draft of the drive of the accelerating pump. |
4. Unscrew screws of the top cover. Turn off the central bolt a 6-faced key. |
5. Hook and remove draft from the plastic lever of the air gate. |
6. Remove the top cover and laying. |
7. Unscrew the screw of fastening of an arm of the device of positioning of a butterfly valve |
8. Disconnect draft of a pneumatic actuator. |
9. Unscrew screws of fastening of the case of a butterfly valve to the case of float-operated cameras. |
10. Remove intermediate draft of a butterfly valve. If it does not work well, then turn off a nut and disconnect the lever from an axis of the gate of primary camera, without allowing violation of installation of a returnable spring. |
11. Remove the case of butterfly valves and laying. |
12. Beat out axes, remove floats and get needle valves. You store these details so that at assembly to establish on former places. |
13. Turn out the shunting jet from the secondary float-operated camera, then turn out all jets from a cover, you store them so that at assembly to establish on former places. |
14. Clear all details and blow channels compressed air under low pressure. |
15. Replace all laying and a sealant (are delivered in a remkomplekta). |
16. Before installation of a cover check correctness of position of draft of the air gate. |
17. Check and if necessary adjust a float. For this purpose measure distance from the cover plane without laying to the upper edge of a float in the absence of effort from a spring on a ball of the needle valve. This distance is regulated by a float uvula podgibaniye. |
18. Make sure that in the top part of the accelerating pump the epiploon is established. |

Adjustment
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
The air gate with the thermoelectric drive (2B4) |
1. Make sure that on a cover and the case of the device of the drive of the air gate there are tags. Otherwise put them. |
2. Unscrew 3 screws and get a ring. |
3. Remove a plastic cover, having disconnected a bimetallic spring from the lever. |
4. Lay a rubber tape under the lever of the air gate, displace the lever of the gate (2) to the right (having pulled for a tape) and a drill (1) with a diameter of 4,2 mm check a gap between bottom edge of the gate and a wall of the carburetor. The lever can also be displaced having created depression in a pneumatic actuator diaphragm. |
5. If necessary adjust a gap, rotating the screw on a pneumatic actuator diaphragm |
6. Establish a thermoelectric drive cover upside-down, having combined tags. |
Device of positioning of a butterfly valve (2B4) |
7. Measure device spring length (the provision of a butterfly valve corresponds to idling). Length has to be 23 (±1,0) mm. If necessary adjust, rotating a nut. |
8. On the idle engine check the gate drive lever course from the restrictive screw to the lever which has to be 5,0 (±0,5) mm. If necessary adjust, having released a lock-nut and rotating draft of a diaphragm. After adjustment tighten a lock-nut. |
9. Adjustment of the device of positioning of a butterfly valve on carburetors 2 is carried out in car service (independent adjustment is possible only in the presence of the special equipment and skills). |
